Saturday Night Circus at the Soiled Dove
Published on February 16, 2004 By Denver Gal In Music
I started the night at Herman's, actually. I was there to see Devouring Saturn before adjourning to The Soiled Dove for an evening of acoustic sets. I really enjoy this band. They've got a very deep sound and June sings some heavy lyrics. I also had the unfortunate experience of sitting next to 3 people who a) wouldn't stop talking and had absolutely nothing nice to say. I was appalled. These people were supposed to be friends with one of the musicians on stage.

Now, I am perfectly okay with people not liking the music I like, but why would someone go to a show where they new they didn't like the music......In any case, they were GREAT and I was off to The Dove.

I always enjoy the Acoustic Circus sets because it's the best of the best performing raw. It is also a great way for the local bands to interact and support eachother. All of the participants did an awesome job. Of course, my favorite set was the Strange Condition/Fong Jones set. These two bands are always phenomenal together, as well as seperately. I also appreciated the Deb with PLASTIC PARACHUTE and Brice with RUBBER PLANET set. They work magnificently together.

The Acoustic Circus CD will be released in early Spring. Get out, support local music, and find a copy!

Don't forget to catch The Niki Jenewein Project at the Mead Street Station tonight! She goes on around 9:30.

Hope to see you all at the Zen Barons Mardi Gras party at The Soiled Dove this Saturday! I'll get nutty!

TTYL!
