So this is HUGE. The Denver music scene is swiftly becoming popular, thanks mostly to the wonderful musicians that live in the beautiful state of Colorado. Here's a run-down of my personal favorite groups:
Strange Condition - Rapidly becoming one of the most popular local bands. These guys will go places, and I'm behind them all the way. Their next show is January 2 at the Gothic. Big steps for these guys. They put on a hell of a show. It's very difficult to describe, and definately a must see show. www.strangeconditionmusic.com
The Niki Jenewein Project - Here's a band with a groove. Niki, the lead singer and a good friend of mine, has the voice of an angel. There are not many local female fronted bands that rock, but this is one of them. They are a "fusion of pop, rock, funk and soul" and are moving up rapidly in the denver music chain. The next show is December 30th at Pink-e's on 92nd Avenue. www.nikijenewein.com
The Fong Jones Band - What can I say?? Not enough to do these guys justice. The lead singer has a voice sexier than Alex Band, and they keep the crowd moving. The band is made of five VERY different people who sound like perfection on stage. You'll have to go to the site to see when their next show is, because I haven't talked to any of them since their December show. I think they're playing with Strange Condition at the Gothic, but I"m not sure. www.fongjonesband.com
The Zen Barons - Great group. I have only recently become more acquainted with the members of this band, but I have liked their music for a while. They tend to be a little heavier rock, but they can play with anybody. They are masters at adjusting their set to be compatible with whoever they wish. Gotta go see them too. www.thezenbarons.com
Again, these are my personal favorite gorups, and they lean more to rock than any other genre, but they are all worthy of praise. Please go check all of them out. You won't find yourself disappointed. I am also going to write about all of the shows individually, so those of you from out of state are able to live vicariously.
